LOOKING OUT FOR OUR NEIGHBOURS
Looking out for our neighbours is a campaign that aims to get people looking out for each other especially those that are most vulnerable so that we can stay happy, healthy and connected. This can help reduce demand on health and care services through early help and preventing ill health.
Although lots of people in West Yorkshire and Harrogate are already doing great things to help those around them, there is still more we can all do to positively impact on the well-being of others.
Rachel Reeves, Member of Parliament for Leeds West and
Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Loneliness is supporting the campaign and said:
“In the last few decades, loneliness has escalated to a social epidemic with communities feeling increasingly disconnected from one another. We must make drastic changes if we are to combat a problem that affects so many and I am delighted to support the ‘Looking out for our Neighbours’ campaign. The role of community based action in working across public, private and third sectors is vital in tackling loneliness. It is inspiring to see a campaign such as this actively reminding us all that a simple cup of tea could go a long way in improving someone’s quality of life.”
