Prescription Charges

The NHS prescription charge in England is a flat-rate amount. If you require multiple medications, and you are not exempted, a prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) can offer considerable savings. The current prescription charges is:

  • Prescription (per item): £9.90

A prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) could save you money on NHS prescription costs

  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
  • 3-month PPC: £32.05
  • a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) PPC costs £19.80 and will save you money if you need more than 2 prescribed qualifying HRT items in a year
